September National Literacy Month: Reading Frequency & School Readiness
Did you know that about 85% of children ages 3-5 (not yet in kindergarten) are read to three or more times per week by a family member. These children tend to enter school better prepared in language, vocabulary, and basic literacy skills. National Center for Education Statistics
⭐ Tips for parents:
Even short reading sessions (5–10 mins) count—quality and consistency matter.
Pair the reading with discussion—ask simple questions about pictures, new words.
This week, try reading together at least once every morning or evening. Tag a friend to join the challenge! #RadiersRead

September is National Literacy Month:
Reading just one book a day makes a big difference! By the time kids enter kindergarten, those who were read one book a day have been exposed to about 290,000 more words than children who were not read to. ScienceDaily
🧒👧 What can parents do?
Start a routine: 10–15 minutes of reading daily—maybe at bedtime or after meals.
Let your child pick the book sometimes—gives them ownership and excitement
Let’s begin National Literacy Month strong: share a favorite children’s book below & commit to reading one story every day for the rest of the week! 📖💕 # RaidersRead
